May 1st to June 5th Combination trips for Saltwater King Salmon and Halibut. We troll for the Kings along the beach in 10-50feet of water. The King Salmon average around 25 pounds. However we have caught King Salmon over 70 pounds. Because they are on their way to the rivers these Salmon are bright silver and being that fresh really fight. They are excellent eating with bright red fillets. We also catch a few “White Meat Kings” every year. If you are the lucky angler who lands one you are in for a real treat as their meat is highly prized for table fare. Each angler is allowed one King Salmon per day with a limit of 5 per year. June 5th till Sept 15th During this time our focus is on Halibut. These fish are caught on the bottom in depths between 40 and 300 feet. They range in size from 5 to over 300 pounds. The biologists declare the average sport caught halibut statewide is 20 pounds. Captain Rod prides himself on working very hard and being willing to go the distance to catch nice fish. His 15 years experience pays big dividends. Halibut is one of the top 10 food fish in the USA. Your catch will be expertly cared for and filleted.* Each angler is allowed 2 halibut per day. Late July to early September: Silver Salmon start arriving in Cook Inlet in late July and keep coming in through early September. When they are available we fish for them at the same time we are fishing for Halibut. However, the Silver run varies every year. For example one year we caught over 500 on the boat. The next year we caught 10. What we tell people interested in catching Silver Salmon on Cook Inlet is “If there are there we will get them”. Silvers run between 7 and 18 pounds (on rare occasions even larger). Fish over 16 pounds are a trophy. Silvers are a very aggressive feeding fish and usually take spectacular jumps during the fight. They are also very good eating. Each angler is allowed 3 silver salmon per day on Cook Inlet. * For processing information see the Information panel on this website.
